About my work

Something new happens every day. Life is beautiful regardless of the circumstances. I learn to see beauty in our daily life and to identify the essentials – separate relevant things from irrelevant. The painting is successful for me when I managed to figure the character and the traits that “cannot be touched physically”. All the creative ideas I find in real life. I like to talk about modern life in the city. I continually observe how different historical periods are connected, how people live - they go to work, meet in a cafe, walk around the city, go back home. Contrasts of a big city filled with opportunities and events - this is my life, the life of my friends, colleagues and the loved ones - the stories I want to share.
In addition to the urban landscape genre, I am fascinated by the themes of interior and still life - they allow us to further explore the topic of human life in the modern world, to convey the spirit of the times.
I am pleased to work at the plein-air; the search of color is always a challenge to me and a striking task. I devote a lot of time to oil painting and pastel work. Pastel allows me to convey my idea in the most subtle and accurate way due to its plasticity. I enjoy working in the studio, I use sketches from plein-airs, experiment with ideas and formats. I am happy to participate in joint plein airs, to travel with paints and I’m all over getting acquainted with the life of people, history and culture in new places.

The ancient city of Pereslavl Zalessky is famous for its history, as well as ancient architectural monuments. In the second half of the 20th century, apart from the unique historical and artistic area the initiative inhabitants created a number of interesting museums: the samovar museum, the iron museum, steam locomotive museum, etc. A growing number of tourists not only from our country, but also from many foreign countries come here to dive into quiet and peaceful world of the province. Thousands of Moscow residents, who fell in love with this sacred land, bought village houses nearby, others built their cottages. This city was visited for much of the 20th century by professional artists as well. If we consider that in the city which was founded on the site of the former country estate of Dmitry Nikolaevich Kardovsky, the native of the Pereslavl Territory and a famous academician of painting, student and colleague of I.E. Repin and P. N. Chistyakov there has been for 70 years a unique House of Creativity, it becomes clear that visual arts has become a necessary need for the inhabitants of Pereslavl Zalessky.

And now another art exhibition is being prepared by another talented artist, Irina Ivanik, which will open on July 7, 2018. Every creative personality has his own ways to enter the world of. Some begin their journey from kids’ art studio, moving to children's art school, and later enrolling some art school or college. Irina Ivanik came to art when she has already become an settled personality. After graduation, she received an economic education, but suddenly a divine spark inherent in her from birth caused her to drastically change her whole entire life. Since she already had a higher education, she had the right to for accelerated studies at the State Academic Art Institute n.a. V.I. Surikov. The most amazing thing is that her inborn talent immediately began to manifest itself as a professional artist. Everything was easy for her, and this was due to the fact that her divine soul, loving heart and intellect impetuously promoted her to the mastery of the art. Her teachers saw how the future artist comprehended the basics of pictorial skill growing from one lesson to another. Starting to write this or that etude at the plein-air, and later, while working on a painting, Irina has always been enthusiastic about this activity. Her first attempts while participating in art exhibitions showed that the viewer perceives the work of this young artist with curiosity and frank delight.
Somehow, at once, she determined for herself that initially her urban environment was receiving special attention, first of all, of course, her native city of Moscow. Taking the easel and other materials for creative work, Irina went to this or that historical street of the capital or to the monastery, choosing the necessary angle from which she intended to create the future painting. All this was preceded by a thorough study of the history of ecclesiastical architecture. In her works the viewer may feel that distant epoch when this or that temple or monastery was created, and it is not by chance. The author has a certain talent to reveal the inner world of the architect who raised this architectural monument.
The artist loves to work at plein-air, and it means that this love is manifested in painting those moments and amazing impressions that currently appear before the eyes of the author. Of course, her work is not only limited to Moscow. She travels a lot to various cities of Russia and foreign countries. So this means that viewers from foreign countries are already familiar with her art. At this exhibition, the author presented several works created the cultural capital of Russia - St. Petersburg, as well as in her beloved sunny Montenegro. The artist pays a lot of attention to the work on the interior of the room. And this means that the exterior and interior are represented in the artist's works in close unity.
The author pays a certain attention to still life.
In the first place, this refers to compositions made up from various articles of daily use. Thus, the artist tries to show the viewer the influence of these objects on a person’s life and his inner world through philosophical reflection. The landscape also occupies a certain part of her art. The paintings are filled with poetry, lyricism, and, of course, the prepared viewer will clearly hear the rustle of leaves, birds singing and the faint waftage of the breeze. Irina Ivanik successfully uses various techniques, I am sure, the viewer will be attracted by her remarkable pastel technique. This type of technique is not often present at exhibitions. Irina is impressed with pastel’s plasticity. Thanks to this technique, she very extensively and contrastively applies a rich and varied color palette.

The exhibition commission with great pleasure invites the artist to take part in a particular exhibition. And now the exhibition with her participation are held in prestigious exhibition areas, including the Central House of Artists, exhibition halls on Tverskaya and Begovaya. Although a considerable number of such exhibitions have already taken place, the artist is still at the beginning of her difficult journey to professional visual arts. She perfectly understands that art is an infinite universe, and she intends to find and define her place in this universe, which, in her view, will give her the opportunity to occupy a worthy niche, demonstrating to the viewer the quality and level of her skill. The spectator, leaving the exhibition of Irina Ivanik, will carry him in his heart and soul a bright artistic splash of her art. At the same time, I would like to express my deep gratitude to Lyubov Andreyevna Tyutlyaeva, head of the Central Library, thanks to whom the educational program began to familiarize the residents of Pereslavl Zalessky with professional art.
